Vultures
Turkey vultures combine my love of nature and concern for the environment. Vultures are our clean-up crew. People may find them ugly and frightening, cleaning up the dead, perching ominously on a barn, but I find them beautiful, mysterious and beneficial to our environment.
Vultures are holy creatures.
Tending the dead.
Bowing low.
Bared head.
Whispers to cold flesh,
“Your old name is not your king.
I rename you ‘Everything.’”
